|Welcome to AquacultureBase|

|AquacultureBase is part of the German Research Program NEMO and contributes to the Aquaculture Competence Center (Gesellschaft für Marine Aquakultur, GMA) of Schleswig-Holstein.|
|Modern aquaculture -
the controlled farming of aquatic organisms – covers a wide range of
different methods and technologies. Especially the more recent
developments in culturing fish and crustaceans in recirculation
aquaculture systems (RAS) combined many new practices derived from
other disciplines to a complex structure. Therefore today’s
aquaculture industry is a very knowledge intensive business and need
to utilize advanced information technologies to cope with the
challenges of this fast growing sector.
AquacultureBase is launched to become a leading platform for all related biological, zootechnical and technological information and data sources. It is designed as a decision supporting system for all that are interested in the growth and development of this fascinating activity: aquaculturists, scientists, engineers and entrepreneurs.
The major objective of this online information systemis to provide important and useful information on the following topics:
- aquaculture species
- farming technology
- operation of aquaculture facilities
- all services around the implementation of a new farm.
The compilation of AquacultureBase will be an evolutionary process. In addition to the local knowledge pool about aquaculture, international contacts within the global aquaculture community will be used to provide compact and substantial information.
The team of AquacultureBase also greatly appreciate your contributions. If you wish to collaborate with AquacultureBase, please feel free to contact us and to share your ideas, information, solutions, etc. with the community.
